It is good for everything
Tea
Almost every one of us drinks tea every day. Do you drink wondering how it hit?
to your cup? Do you know where it comes from?
Sri Lanka is famous for its wonderful teas and is at the forefront of the suppliers of this great beverage. The hot sun, mild winds and high altitude differences proved to be ideal for her growing and her unique taste.
An interesting fact is that tea plantations in Ceylon were not built until the seventies of the nineteenth century. After the plague, which destroyed the coffee plantation, growers near bankruptcy decided to use their tea plantations and achieved spectacular success. Many believe that the most beautiful tea plantations are located here – in Ceylon.
You ask where?
The highland region in the south – central part of the island is one of the most beautiful regions. For example, the town of Nuwara Elija, or Tea Capital, is where tea plantations and factories adjoin beautiful waterfalls and colonial architecture.

Tea in Sri Lanka is divided into different categories.
Height
Age
The highest-priced high-grown teas come from plantations above 1200 m above sea level.
An important criterion is also the age of tea bushes – the most valuable leaves come from plants that are no more than 40 years old. All teas, black and green, come from the same plant. Black Ceylon tea is often used as a base for flavoring blends – their delicate flavor does not dominate the aroma of fruit or herbal supplements.
And now about the factories
Most Sri Lankan factories still produce orthodox tea by production. Tea, especially the best species, is collected manually. The pickers break only 2 youngest, freshest, most juicy leaf + bud. With still undeveloped tea buds from the very top of the tree produces the most valuable white tea. Tea bushes are cut to about 40 cm.
The tea field landscape is filled with teapot collectors. Colorful stains on the background of lush greenery. Each collector must daily deliver nearly 20 kg of leaves. Some of them beat the records and are able to collect up to 40 kg of fine sheets during the day.
There are hundreds of smaller and larger factories on the island, which, thanks to fair and hard work, are gaining market success. This is where you can get acquainted with the production process as well as buy tea.
In short, the production process can be described as follows: tea set – wilt leaves – roll – screen – oxidation – drying – sorting – purification – sensory evaluation – packaging. Ceylon Tea is characterized by its full, expressive flavor and reddish brown color. It is bubbled with water, boiling with water and after 3-5 minutes is ready.
