The most important representatives of Sri Lankan fauna are elephants that live in national parks on the island.

Other animals found here include bears, jackals, wild pigs, deer and monkeys, min. macaques and langurs.
It is also a paradise for ornithologists, who can observe falcons, eagles, colorful kingfishers, parrots, woodpeckers and owls, siskins, cormorants, toucans, peacocks, pelicans and paradise
birds.
Reptiles are represented by crocodiles, varanas, chameleons and snakes, geckos and turtles.
